Zoom screenshots

These are the pretty much obligatory screenshots of zoom running a few old infocom titles and some more modern fare.

Defunct, now

Zoom now has a version that runs under windows (although it hasn't been updated in quite a while)...

Blip

...and a version that runs under Mac OS X...

Zork 0

Zoom now fully supports version 6 games (including under Mac OS X).

New UI for X-Windows

The new, improved, X-Windows user interface. Xft and T1Lib fonts are used to render.

Curses

This was the first Z-Code game I played (back in 1993, when it was a v3 game and somewhat easier to complete :-). So the more recent version gets to be the first screenshot, too. You can download it from here (it is freely available)

Jigsaw shot

After completing the original Curses (and my GCSEs at around the same time), I spent lots of time I should have spent studying for my A-levels playing Jigsaw. (I also wrote a windows port of ZIP at around that time, so I could play on the school's systems as well as my A3000). Jigsaw is also freely available, from here

Beyond Zork

Beyond Zork is slightly tricky to display, and my font 3 code still isn't quite up to snuff (but it's a pretty good attempt :-)

Zork I

The very first game Zoom 'ran' (actually the first build just about managed to display the introductionary bit and then fell over because the object handling routines weren't working :-) I was so shocked that the very first build did something vaguely useful that I ended up completing the project. Zork itself was the first Infocom title, so it's somewhat appropriate that it was also the first game Zoom ran properly.

Seastalker

Seastalker is a slightly unusual version 3 game, in that it is the only one to use the upper window.

Game menu

When Zoom is not given a game to run, it can produce a menu of the games available in a default directory.
